I'M HERE

Delete your account

You can delete your account yourself from inside the app. You can also request deletion here, without reinstalling the app.

From inside the app

  1. Open the app
  2. Go to Profile › Settings (gear icon) › Delete my account
  3. Confirm

The moment you confirm, your access ends, any open session closes and deletion begins.

If you cannot reach the app

Write to [email protected] from the email address registered to your account and ask for your account to be deleted. We may ask you for a few details so we can verify it is you. We respond within one month at the latest.

If we closed your account

If we closed your account for breaking our rules, you cannot use the in-app deletion. Write to [email protected] from the email address on your account. We keep your account data for 30 days after the closure so that you can contest the decision or ask for a copy of your data; if you would rather we deleted it sooner, say so in the same email. After 30 days we delete it in the order described in section 7 of our Privacy Policy. If we closed the account because the person is under 18, we delete the data without waiting. If the law requires us to keep something, or a public authority lawfully asks us to preserve it, we keep only that, only for as long as required.

Delete some of your data without deleting your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to have specific data removed. Write to [email protected] from the email address on your account and tell us what you want deleted — for example a contact detail you shared, your profile photo, or your location records. We may ask you for a few details so we can verify it is you. We respond within one month at the latest.

Some data is kept for a fixed period even after a request, because we need it for safety or the law requires it: the periods are listed in section 6 of our Privacy Policy, and section 7 explains what happens to a safety file.

What is deleted

What remains

Plainly

When you delete your account, your messages remain in the chat on the phone of the person you spoke to. Your name, photo and profile are deleted and they can no longer reach you — but the text of what you wrote is part of their own chat history, so it is not deleted.

Those messages do not stay forever either: they are deleted 30 days after the chat stops being writable.

We do not tell you that the other side's copies were deleted, and we make no such promise.

If there is an open report involving you, your identity fields in that file are not deleted but replaced with a pseudonym, so a safety review can continue. We state the limits of that pseudonym plainly in section 7 of the Privacy Policy.
